This inclusive monograph of the euphorbia family in Sonora covers 143 species, many of them hardly known to science, and four species and one subspecies that are new to science. The Euphorbiaceae of the state vary from small annuals to 30-meter trees, with several tropical genera present such as Drypetes, Jatropha, Manihot, Sebastiania and others.
