Biological
Resources of the Proposed Sonoran Desert National Monument provided
significant impetus for the creation of the Sonoran Desert National
Monument. The Monument covers 500,000 acres of vast and unique
landscapes, and is contiguous with 7 million acres of protected
lands on both sides of the international border. Greater Phoenix
is fast approaching the northern boundaries of the Monument. This
biological appraisal of the region is a landmark work for land
managers, lawmakers and biologists.
